Adventurous Way
США
Добавлен 5 ноя 2017
We're Matt & Diana - a young (ish!) couple living life the adventurous way!
Our motto is to live life the adventurous way. If there is a conventional way to do something and an adventurous way to do something - we choose the adventurous way.
Originally from Europe, we met while both living in California and embraced our shared passion for travel by hitting the road as full-time RVers in 2018, on a mission to visit all the National Park Units across the US.
In 2021 we bought land in Vermont and embarked on a new adventure - self-building our dream home, a sustainable, Net Zero Passive House with the latest smart home technology on our 40-acre homestead.
Join us on our journey as we face new challenges, embrace new opportunities, learn new skills and share it all here

Back to building the Solar Kiln! | Solar Kiln Ep 5
2 years ago we started building a solar kiln to dry our lumber, but getting site work and prepping for utility building was more important. Over the winter we picked back up work on the solar kiln and in this video we started framing the walls. This was our first time framing something so large.

One Year of Gardening - Expanding to Three Raised Beds
Просмотров 1,7 тыс.2 месяца назад
2023 was our second year of gardening on our homestead in Vermont. We expanded from one log-style raised bed to three by adding 2 more raised beds that we built using our own lumber. Despite very wet and challenging weather some things like tomatoes did well. Others got eaten by slugs. Here are Amazon links for products mentioned in the video so you can see what they are, but do check your loca...

How to sleeve sewer pipe | Utility Building Part 5
Просмотров 3,6 тыс.8 месяцев назад
We install a sewer pipe from the utility building to the septic tanks. Since our septic pipe is going under the driveway and it doesn't get the full depth we decided to protect it by sleeving it in 6" SDR 35. Preparing trench for septic pipe | Utility Building Part 4

In order to prepare for slab rough in plumbing we need to run the septic line from the utility building to the septic system. An additional benefit of the new septic line is that we will be able to dump the RV tanks directly into that. 5 DIY Concrete Piers are in! | Utility Building Part 3
Просмотров 2,6 тыс.8 месяцев назад
We poured more concrete piers and now all 5 are finished! It sure has been a process with every pier being a bit different due to the rock conditions underneath - some with scribed to the rock footings and some using a Square Foot plastic footing form. For pier 5 we drilled into the rock and the drill went through the rock so then we had to rent a jackhammer to get the rock out. But now it's do...

Living in RV while building a house - FILLING FRESH WATER
The guy with the Jesus ballon is an mvp I’ve always seen him there
I didn’t see a ring on her finger. She’s so cute! I may have to visit the dealership just to see her in person.
People from New Mexico here if so leave your yes here 👇👇
You have a shovel, get out, work on that wash out, and then power through, assuming you have appropriate tires ! Or go back check on the rest of the party you are concerned about…..one had a winch, vey helpful in these situtiaions, but you will get dirty ! 👍 aussies know about dirty. Build a shelter, stays while. Greenhorns 👏🤦🏻♂️
Hold fitting in left hand and tape in right. Tape clockwise
I’m in the very beginning stages of my full-time RV, living journey. Just stumbled across your channel and enormous amount of valuable content, thank you. I am subscribed. Look forward to future videos.
I'm from VT! I grew up in Addison County. I've lived in Virginia for almost 5 years, but miss VT, and visit often! I actually came across the video and noticed the Essex Equipment sticker on the chipper, so I had to watch a video from VT! Take care!
Do you still have this trailer if not would you buy an orv again or recommend people not to buy one maybe because of build quality Ty R Carpenter
Since it's been about a year since you installed this can you update us on how it's working out
New to your channel. I loved the video and looking forward to seeing more
My 8 ur old found this video and said, “mommy look! This is sooo beautiful!”😊
I have the wc68 woodchipper and find the biggest problem is chipping branches of spruce/pine or green needles. It plugs up fairly easy with these branches. When I do have these types of branches it helps to mix in maple or hardwood to clear things up. I noticed that you did this as well.
I need one truck like zat
I'm not a gas grill fan. Not the same flavor as charcoal.
Get your shovel out. As well don't think weather forecast should be unconsidered.
🤣
not wild pigs, they are similar called Peccary or Javelina.
What a mess!
Not really - it’s pretty easy to cut.
My hot air balloon is rainbow ryders!
Run the drill in reverse to start out with with a bit in the steel it will put a Groove into it and then run it the other direction to actually punch the hole
Do you have to use primer for electrical conduit?
That would be a question for your AHJ. Many people choose not to, but we chose to use it. I explained in another comment our rationale.
Good job! Enjoy watching your progress.
Thank you!
Very informative new in 2024
This is an older video, I'm glad you still find it informative.
Looking great!
Thanks!
great update. Use Robertson screws, way better!
I much prefer them but they’re hard to find around here!
I really like your channel. But I wish you would publish more. When will we see you start construction on your home?
We wish we could publish more too! But have to prioritize time for work and building first. We are building utility building this year. Perhaps will start on the house next year.
Looking forward to future kiln videos. I need to build one too. Couple tips on raising that tall wall. Try doing it "the other way around" with the wall laying on the deck. Then the cleat you placed at edge of floor will keep the wall from kicking out at bottom. And at same time your diagonal braces will drag nicely across ground, and not 'stab in" so the c-clamps holding them aloft wouldn't be needed. and you both will be standing 2 ft higher off the ground, and get a bit better leverage to raise the wall.
We’ve literally just put our real first load of lumber into the solar kiln this afternoon. It’s just some boards to make siding for the kiln itself, but even so we’re pretty excited. We did a test run with the kiln in early April and it dried some boards to oven dry in 7 days. The hottest we’ve seen it so far is 175°F. As for the wall, we were in a tight spot. There wasn’t space on the other side to do what you suggested - there was a yard bag full of frozen sand in the way that we couldn’t move.
love the background music at intro
Thanks :)
thanks for sharing these updates on "Back to building the Solar Kiln!" I look forward to seeing future progress on this build very interesting ! LIKE 31
Thanks for watching!
Great Video!!
Many thanks for this film - regards.
Thanks for watching!
Go to a Stihl MS362, you will realize just how much time you are spending needlessly. Electric is ok for small limbing of branches, but not for what you’re doing. Just my opinion, from personal experience.
We have a couple of Husqvarna saws now but I agree with your general point. I still really like the electric saw for certain jobs - eg a quick few cuts - but the gas saws are much more powerful.
Did you guys ever get hassled by border patrol agents while you were there? I know there are some checkpoints just outside of Las Cruces and they were nice enough to wave me through since I'm a US citizen. I'm wondering how things went for you guys being near the border.
Not really hassled, no. There are checkpoints on the roads at several points in the area, so we had to go through those, but never an issue.
We just purchased a 2023 28 footer. For now, we're going to be a weekend RVers. I will do the hose storage and I definitely need to work on the suspension. It drives like 💩. Will The sway bars and shocks take care of the issues? I've seen other videos where they instal air bags, sumosprings, etc.
I’m not sure I can tell you what’s going to work for you. I can tell you that our suspension mods worked for us, but that was with us being very cognizant of our trailer and the way we had it set up.
You guys Rock ! Good Work...
Haha, thanks!
So how much height is needed in a garden bed?
It’s really up to you, what you want to plant and what’s comfortable. For our newer raised beds we settled on 20” but it’s personal preference.
Nice job!!! Could you please confirm the Sonoff 4CHPROR3 can be connected to DC imput and DC loads (LED lights)?
Fantastic job!! I love this!!
Love the teamwork !
As interesting alterantive we recommend our new smart camper solution
Do you have a follow-up video? Curious what the coldest it got underneath and I'm so impressed you and your wife got along so well through all that. I don't know if my wife and I would have both been alive after doing all that together.
Wonder why they don't use the scap two inch scrap wall pieces for the storage bay doors?
Keep that rope out of the sun ,or it gets brittle
@CorrinThompson, it must have been my lucky day, i just ended up on this site, hearing an angel. I have a question is there any way that back in 2003 ish you guys took over the Tahoe TranSport hybrid toy-hauler model 20TB TT. Ramp in the rear and the folding Bed Door [tent 80x60] out thru the front, two jack knife couches in back. It start as a THOR, they were taken over or sold to , MVP 2003+, i lost all connect in 2021 when i got her, she need some TLC to make her shine again, if there is anything you can tell me about 2003 THOR/MVP 20TB, OR A DIRECTION TO GFO, I WILL LOVE YOU FOREVER.
ruclips.net/video/IonxS3B7FfQ/видео.htmlsi=oTPmxJcNY7mcGkbi Ive had my hands in soil for 37 years......i like what your doing folks! If i can help you in anyway i will, i feel like a 6000k blue light for your seedlings is way better then the one your using. Id also rec the seedlings stay moist in the medium 24/7 until they are established with a strong base. Maybe grab some red wiggler worms for a compost bin so they can help you as well. just suggestions. have fun!
believe it or not a FEIT bulb from costco with a color rendering index of 90...in blue...i prefer to take the plastic diffuser off but its not needed....perfect bulbs for seedlings.
Do you use an oil based primer
You still working this land.?
We are indeed! Made lots of great progress which you can follow along with in our videos.
My hm126 is being delivered tomarrow! I'm so excited
Congratulations! I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
The best explanation I've seen
cough HomePod cough
Interesting Tour, great process it seems to me.
Excellent video for all that use tractors. No one knows everything. This salesman sure has learned his trade.
